Envy. In order to see reality, people need to be willing to admit they were wrong, and to value truth above their own ego.
That’s the only reason I can think of, because Trump is rich, famous, popular, self assured.
Burnie cultivates a different type of persona. Trump IS who he is, and Burnie is a lying weasel faker but some people are taken in by him.
Being Injun* is likely partly to blame. Tribal culture is a blend of animism and tyrannical socialism.
