I worked with an old pipefitter who was in the Signal Corp in WWII. For a while he was helping set up comms for Eisenhower.
This old boy told me he got to be in on a staff meeting where Ike was at the head of the table appearing to go to sleep while all the underlings got a chance to have their say.
At the end of the speeches, he told me Ike awoke and pointed to one staff member in particular: “We’ll do it his way.”
Yep...”asleep”.
