Just did a quick search because it sounded interesting. There was a Laurel Canyon Air Force Base there, which is now turned into a private home. The base was actually a film studio that was used to process film of nuclear explosions. There is also some thinking that it was used to develop MK-Ultra programming videos.
Yes, I had done a little bit of reading about Laurel Canyon. IIRC, there were quite a few connected to the military. Also a lot of them eventually died pretty young/suicide.
I never really got into it enough to know for sure what it was all about. MK ULTRA would not be a surprise.
