I’m just thinking it’s always the colonels who are behind military coups. The generals already have the star. They know which side their bread is buttered. But colonels, especially those with no chance to become general, are dangerous. Iron Eagles.
It is that way because the Colonels command the troops.

Although except for the 4 star generals, most seem to be looking for that next star. But there is a definite dividing line between Colonel and B. General. So you may be on to something.
One reason I find it makes sense that Trump has surrounded himself with military is this: You don’t get rich by being in the military. Even if you’re a 4 star general. So the people in the military are motivated primarily by patriotism or duty or pride in their work or something similar.
If there were corrupt bribe-takers among the military, I think it would be quickly apparent to their colleagues and questions would be raised.
