The mind boggles. Some people just can’t suppress their inner idjit.
The father has died. More information about the perp.
Good parents don't keep little kids up that late. Your teenagers are supposed to be home in bed by 10pm.
From the reaction to my post, there are a bunch of bad parents on this thread and no one would make a good detective.
1) This is California; it’s a two-hour commute from work so we eat late.
2) By 9pm the early birds and the local crowd have thinned. The waiters are more attentive because it’s their last chance for a big tip.
3) Since a 9pm seating is usually the last or next to last seating, no one hurries you to eat and vacate the table for the next customer so your dinner is much more enjoyable.
4) If the 5yo gets antsy, it disturbs less customers, and so is more considerate

OC beaches are full of homeless addicts enjoying perfect weather and ACLU protection.
“Your teenagers are supposed to be home in bed by 10pm.”
Are you kidding?
.
The police already had a heads up about the derelict, Jackson before the murder:
“At 6:23 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities were contacted about a man yelling and being disruptive near the Crowne Plaza Hotel, across the promenade from the Aloha Steakhouse.”
“All Ventura patrol officers in the area were assigned to other calls, so Ventura police used the pier security camera system to observe the man described by the witness, police said. The man was later determined by authorities to be Jackson.”
No.
?It just occurred to me that the man was up to no good and he was using his family as a cover.
And it occurred to me that you watch WAY to much poorly plotted TV but please continue.

Oh yawn. My parents were the best and I often was up until midnight even younger. They were pastors and missionaries. Church often got out after 11. I just curled up under the pews and had a nap.

Or maybe you are a melodramatic sort of person who has an overactive imagination.
“It’s 10pm, do you know where your children are?”

I was grocery shopping with my five-year-old daughter last night at 11:00 pm. She enjoys it. We can chase her to bed but she doesn’t actually sleep till a bit after midnight.
WTF is happening to this once great state? I know. EFFFIINNNN jerry browneye and our last obunghole pres. RIP sir. : (
These “bums” need to be rounded up and given psychiatric tests to determine if they need to be institutionalized. The money being spent on illegal aliens needs to stop and the homeless problem needs to be solved with a big emphasis on mental health.
The mental institutionalization policy has failed. We need involuntary commitments to mental institutions. Now!

A former boss used to say about patients who hear voices; “They’re the most dangerous because you never know what their voices are telling them to do.”
What is wrong with you? I can’t even begin to make my way through that muddle.
Well said. I suspect they went to a 7 PM movie and planned to have dinner after the movie. We just don’t have much information about the victim. We don’t know if the child had to attend Kindergarten Thursday or if she was still to young to attend. And the entire issue is a red herring that has no bearing to the fact that her father was murdered.
The murder has a good chance for the death penalty.
3-6 Years Old: 10 - 12 hours per day
Children at this age typically go to bed between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and wake up around 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., just as they did when they were younger. At age 3, most children are still napping, while at age 5, most are not. Naps gradually become shorter, as well. New sleep problems do not usually develop after age 3.
