My kid likes those expensive sneakers. We gave him the amount of money we would spend on shoes and he had to come up with the rest if he wanted them. He always did. He also bought and sold these shoes. He is quite the entrepreneur.
Giving a defenseless kid an expensive item in this day and age is asking for trouble.............those days are over.......for now................

Good for you. That’s what my daughter and her husband did when the kids wanted Macs when entering high school-— paid a reasonable portion and made them pay the rest,which they did.
