Kinda like Sally Yates' after the fact CYA email to herself regarding a meeting she had with Obama, Biden, Comey et.al. reminding herself that they were to do everything "by the book". Wasn't it Susan Rice who wrote herself an email for cover? Or did Yates write one too?
