Get yourself a handgun. Learn to use it! Practice regularly. Be licensed to carry. Don't leave home without it. At home, keep it nearby. Take self defense classes and especially extra classes teaching real-life shooting training. At age 19 I went off to college and got assaulted. My dad was never one to tell us I love you and such, but he drove down, gave me my first handgun and taught me to use it. Actions speak loud enough. Ladies, it's great when we have men to stand up for us. But take this one action for yourself. Billy is totally correct tho, the first rule is always to stay aware of your surroundings. Trust your instinct and if a situation doesn't feel safe go away! But have that handgun right with you. Always.
