Snowden starts by saying he started working for the government on June 9,2013 as a high school drop out. It was an easy job with very good pay at the NSA. While being an easy job I started moving up fast and was receiving more and more security clearances. And at that time there were around 30,000 working for the NSA.
I started out as a TRUE believer but gradually started to notice that the government would gain legal information but then turn around and report it to the public not exactly truthfully.
One example was when James Clapper was testifying under oath he was asked..Does the NSA spy on hundreds of million US citizens?
He pulsed and then said, "No,No Sir not willingly".
John Barlow interrupts and says,"that's not right." The governments job was never about surveillance it was about democracy. And if this was done (surveillance) by a US citizen there would have been consequences.
Snowden replies-If the government's aim is about democracy the systems are NOT working.
Barlow-Your missing the point. The government is stepping on the beliefs of the American people who believe that our Founding Documents are sacred. And those American's who continue to believe in those Founding Documents have become a BIG THREAT to our Government.
Snowden then continues to talk about his leaving the country. He states he handed over ALL the files he carried with him and handed them over to the Press in Hong Kong, Japan. Saying,"I wasn't elected President of Disclosure."
Then he refers to something John Barlow had told him. John said he liked to go by the Navajo saying ...."You can't awaken someone who's pretending to be asleep". And John said he will keep this saying with him for whatever comes next. Because when we see problems and try to make people in power stop and face these facts and see why we feel angry nothing will change. People in power think they have immunity without accountability and no standard of behavior will touch the law. The government as well as the Powerful people today look at YOU and say....What are you going to do about it?

Thank you so much for your synopsis. Most important point, I think, “Barlow-Your missing the point. This reminds me of the killing of LaVoy Finicum. Back in January 2016 Finicum and the Bundy’s were standing up for fellow ranching family, the Hammond’s from Oregon. While in the process of standing up for the persecuted Hammond family they discovered the Uranium 1 scandal. They were also diligently teaching the Constitution and they were excellent family men, True PATRIOTS. For this, they were portrayed as domestic terrorists and the government authorities decided to set up an illegal kill stop where they gunned LaVoy Finnicum down (while he had his hands in the air.) The FBI and Oregon State Police opened fire on the passengers in Lavoy’s pickup and it was only by the grace of God they weren’t all killed.
A man that I know posted the results of a FOIA request that he helped a group of people legally obtain. It was the emails of Governor Kate Brown during the time leading up to and after LaVoy was killed. The whole “show” was coordinated by the FBI, Gov.Brown, AG Loretta Lynch and the White house. Quoting from email, “Hi Jan, Kristen L and Heidi should confirm this but my understanding was that Ben and I would provide talking points for calls that were to be scheduled as soon as practicable (as in sometime in the next few days, sooner rather than later, but that could include Monday).”
This was in response to Jan’s question quoted here, “I need some clarification as I’m getting conflicting information-at this time, am I supposed to be working with USDOJ to set up a call for the Governor with AG Lynch for early next week?”
Another telling statement, “The two of you are on my list as taking the lead on messaging for the Governor’s calls into FBI, USDOJ and the WH.”
I pray President Trump can clean up the mess that Obama, Comey, ETC. have created.
