After two men were seen in social media video being handcuffed and removed by police officers from a Philadelphia Starbucks Thursday, the coffee chain issued an apology and said it is looking into the "unfortunate result."
Authorities were called to the store in Center City when the two men allegedly remained in the Starbucks after a manager told them they had to order something, according to the witnesses inside the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce streets. About five to seven police officers arrived about 4:30 p.m. and arrested the two men.
The men, who have not been identified, were later released after Starbucks declined to press trespassing charges.
Video of the encounter shows the two men calm as they are surrounded by officers, who ask them to stand up before handcuffing them and leading them out of the store. Witnesses inside the store could be heard asking what the men did that would lead the officers to arrest them.

“Now these two were asked to order or leave, which is perfectly within the right of the store. Those seats are there for paying customers.”

I meant that they KNEW they would be asked to leave, would refuse, then cops would be called. RACIST COPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waiting for a friend to show up before ordering is illegal?

Boom!!! Exactly want I was going to say.
HOW LONG did they wait? Very important.
Had they bought ANYTHING at all while they were there?
It seems to me that a Starbucks (or anywhere else) would deliberately offend customers by asking them to leave for no good reason.
They must have bought nothing and had been there taking up space meant for paying customers for quite awhile.
Anybody, black or white, who goes to Starbucks ought to be arrested.
Um, yea but no.
The solution to resist this type of treatment is simple. Stay out of Starbucks, completely.
They could have waited outside without incident. I typically do that if I’m waiting on other members of my party to arrive. If the weather’s bad I’ll wait inside, but order a beverage or some kind of appetizer/snack. Common courtesy toward the business.
It does sound like a set up, but, what previous arrests were on their records?
Africans assume they can get away with behavior that others can’t. I’ve seen them park in handy-capped spaces and no parking spaces and make their cool walk right into the store.
It isnt a setup.
Coffee shops have to do this all the time.

Then there should be plenty of calls to the police from the same Starbucks to back up such a defense. I wouldn’t bet on it though.
Previous arrests are not a factor-—they were asked to purchase something if they wanted to hang out there, they refused, they were asked to leave, they refused-—therefore they were trespassing.
They were a couple of jerks looking for a reason make an accusation of racism.

Great scene from a great movie.
And, that's the point. They refused a lawful order and paid for it. All they had to do was go outside, wait for their friend, then go back in and order coffee.
Free machiados for life...and $5 mil each.
It sounds like they were there for a while.
“Article makes like its illegal to arrest blacks.”
That’s pretty much where we’re at.
#BoycottStarbucks has been trending for hours. Will be interesting to see if that makes a difference.
There’s definitely a big dallop of schadenfreude in this story considering how not long ago Starbucks was all in virtue signaling mode in the race front.
