So much for accuracy. The country where Apple sells the highest number of iPhones, far more than they ever sell in China, is the United States. Always has been. Likely always will be. Last quarter of 2017, Apple sold 22 million iPhones in the US, about 12 million in China.

The excerpt that asserted China having larger sales was from a NYT article in the year 2015.
