Thousands of people have been fined in the months since Virginia, for the first time, imposed penalties on people who drive too slowly in the left lane or commit other related traffic violations, data obtained through a public records request show.
Beginning July 1, 2017, Virginia set a $100 fine for driving too slowly in the left lane, failing to stay to the right side except when passing, and other violations, such as crossing a double yellow line. Before that, the infractions were considered legal violations but had no fines attached.
A similar effort in Maryland narrowly failed in the state senate last year amid concerns the ban would simply be an excuse for police to pull drivers over. This year, bills to restrict the use of the left lane in Maryland failed to advance to the House floor.
From July 1, 2017 through April 3, 2018, 1,951 citations were filed in general district courts across the state for failing to drive on the right half of the highway except when overtaking and passing another vehicle, according to data provided to WTOP by the Supreme Court of Virginia in response to a public records request. …

Oh boy, I doubt hubs is aware of this law, lol. Altho in his defense he is usually speeding in the left lane and folks still want to pass (80 plus MPH)

Around where I live, the speed limit is 55. If you are driving 75 in the left lane, numerous drivers will pass you on the inside lane.
I saw a bumper sticker once that I have always wished I had bought. It read, “Why am I the only one who knows how to drive?”
I liked Gallagher’s idea of having a gun that would shoot these arrows with flags on the end that say, “Stupid!”, everytime you see someone do something stupid on the road.
Then after somebody accumulates about a dozen of these “Stupid!” flags, the cop pulls them over.
Oklahoma passed one of these stupid laws also. The right lane is so rough most places you cant even drive the speed limit. Another pitiful ploy to raise nickel and dime revenue.
Oklahoma, where the roads all suck and we complain.

Down here, we have the LL Campers and the LL Vigilantes. The latter will actually move into an empty lane just to block faster traffic. When you talk to one of them, they tell you that the speed limit is the speed limit and no one should ever drive over it....
...until you get a chance to pass one and then they speed up to try and stay ahead.
I fully support this law!!
The Maryland law deserved to fail. It was just flat stupid.
It fined drivers who remained in the third lane of a three lane road yet did nothing for the left lane of a two lane road.
I don’t get bothered by slower drivers in the third lane as much as I do in the second lane of two.
9 times out of 10 the libertarians will pass on the right even when the left lane is open.
Thank god for this law. I despise the selfish brain-dead morons who think the left lane is for travel, and don’t give the slightest regard to how many cars stack up behind them in traffic.
They chug along beside a semi or slow mover in the right lane and form an idiotic rolling roadblock. Glad to see them paying some cash for their stupidity.
I remember that but cop pulled him over and give him a ticket for being an a-hole! It’s a bit not but stupid speech to text gets me again...
Whatever the number is; it’s not enough. I think a number of passive-aggressive people intentionally drive in the left “passing” lane merely to slow up faster drivers.

There are lots of left lane slowpokes on the Fairfax County Parkway.
We passed a law just like it. I can tell the difference.
Back when I lived in Florida, we’d refer to it as the “Claude Pepper Lane”, with all the blue hairs driving slowly in it.
