Just saying :^)
The study’s researchers took 43 college students, ages 18 to 22, and asked them to recite as many swear words as they could in one minute and name as many animals as they could in one minute, the Huffington Post reports. The people who could name more swear words could also name more animals, indicating a broader overall vocabulary.
RT notes that, surprisingly, “no relationship between how religious someone is and how much they swear was found.” Also, HuffPo points out, men and women curse about the same amount.
Interesting . . . it would have been interesting to run the same test and name authors rather than animals. I find those who swear are less read, inhibiting a greater vocabulary. Does not make them less intelligent, just less scope of vocabulary to express themselves.
Yeah, well, I always go to HuffPo for research. Just sayin’.
And 43 college students. Wow! Such an impressive sample size and such diversity in the study group.
My vocabulary scores would probably beat those of nearly all of those students, but I choose not to include swear words in my output.
