White Castle...in the 70s I worked for a well-regarded lighting company that sourced sheet metal for their indoor luminaires from White Castle Systems. They had state of the art white powder coating processes used on the exterior sheathing of their restaurants. Powder coat big deal then.

Yep White Castle Porcelain Steel Builders on Goodale Street. The machine shop was large enough they contracted a lot of work over and above support for the restaurants. When I was a kid, they also made all the Scotts lawn spreaders, back in the day when they used sheet metal instead of current day plastic. I also remember my dad saying they made some aircraft parts. That would have been when the Rockwell International plant was still in operation so that may have been the source. My dad worked there as a tool and die maker then left in 1976 for another job, but I still enjoy the stories about WC. They were good to my dad, a family-owned private business. The Ingram family are very conservative, have never borrowed a nickel, and pay for each location and construction with cash.
