errr.. Modern day "Jews" are a mix of people from the tribes of Judah,Benjamin, Simeon, Levi and also people from Manasseh, Issacher etc. who returned back after 300 years --> Jews are not ONLY descended from the tribe of Judah. At the time of the split of the north, the tribes of Simeon and Benjamin were absorbed by the larger tribe of Judah. There were also Levites
And the northern tribes were taken by Assyria in around 700 BC, and resettled in what is now Iraq. After the Iranian king, Cyrus the great let Hebrews go back, the ones who had not assimilated did and now you have 4 groups of people descended from these northern tribes:
- Peoples of Iraq and Western Iran who have part northern ancestry
- Peoples of Syria who had earlier admixtures with the northern tribes (like Zebulun, Dan etc.)
- Samaritans (yes they still exist)
- Jews who intermarried with them before and after the return
and of course people around the world will have some, SOME Jewish blood -- and no, the English don't have more Jewish blood than Iraqis...
