Actually, thats not exactly true. Purple is still the correct liturgical color, but some Modernists have introduced blue for the reasons you mention. Its not liturgically correct and most churches still use purple (the same vestments they use for Lent). I seem to recall Fr. Z posting about it a couple of times.
