John Huber, who will investigate the FBI, is a special counsel in every way but name
Washington Times ^ | 4/1/2018 | Jeff Mordock

Attorney General Jeff Sessions may have declined calls to appoint a second special counsel to investigate the FBI’s behavior during the 2016 campaign, but the man he has picked to lead an internal Justice Department review is a special counsel in every way but name.

John W. Huber, the U.S. attorney in Utah, can convene a grand jury, issue subpoenas, collect evidence and order witnesses to testify — all the usual powers a federal prosecutor has — as he delves into whether the FBI abused its powers when it sought permission and then carried out wiretapping of a Trump campaign figure, or whether it trod too lightly in pursuing questions about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Mr. Sessions said the facts of the FBI situation don’t yet rise to the level of demanding a special counsel, but Mr. Huber is as close as can be.

“He will have the full authority of a federal prosecutor,” said Richard Painter, former chief ethics attorney for President George W. Bush. “If he looks at this and finds someone in the DOJ lied to a government official, he would be able to convene a grand jury, compel testimony and even prosecute them.”

No better place to investigate the URANIUM ONE deal than in a state that has jurisdiction.

I've already read the Turley article.

He misses the main point.

Huber is conflicted.

Huber's boss Rosenstein was part of the possible Uranium One coverup.

It’s not the same as a Special Counsel.

For one, Huber is not dedicated. He’s doing everything in his office that he did before, but that’s just one example.

Sessions, in November, 2017, indicated his opposition to a Special Counsel, and argued with Jim Jordan.

Sessions wanted to go IG only, but some stalwart House Republicans wouldn’t let it die, so Rosenstein has sent it to Utah, to get a burial by an Obama Appointee.

This is nothing more than that.

Ok then, I guess we wait on the IG report (coming in phases) followed by the Huber & Team indictments.

This writer misses the MAIN point. Few of us believe ANYBODY that has drawn a paycheck from the FBI in the past ten years!

It sounds to me like the FBI and the DOJ (i.e. Sessions) is trying to retain ultimate control of who get’s prosecuted and who doesn’t.

Started out as a trickle, now more and more MSM are starting to realize this is more than it seems.

It’s dawning on them that Sessions did an end-around.

It has been reported that Huber has been working with IG for 5 months.
Where are the indictments? Huber does not have to wait for IG report
because he is working with IG. He knows what the IG knows.

If Huber has been working with IG for 5 months, where are indictments?

There you go again. I’ll date Kate Upton before the Mormon cavalry arrives from Utah to save POTUS.

You avoided the question.
Unlike Muller, Huber has had access to IG investigative files.
It did not take Mulehead long to get guilty pleas from Gates and Flynn.
So once again where are the Huber indictments?

The DoJ is too dirty to investigate itself.

It needs to be Phoenixed.

Mitt’s money laundering past will prevent that fraud from rising to POTUS power. He is lucky he is not already indicted.
