I'm feeling like hearing some interesting music that I've never heard before, so I thought I'd start a thread on FReeper's favorite underrated bands. Post several good examples of their music and why you feel they're underrated. Should be fun.
One hit wonder. Saw them live once and they sucked. Big mistake on my part.
Oh yeah, now you’re talking. Love The Replacements.
The Replacements - “Bastards Of Young”
Since I grew up on Jazz & Fusion back in the late 70s and early 80s, I’ll mention a couple along those lines.
The original Pat Metheny Group lineup.
Phase Dance

Timbuk3 - “Welcome To The Human Race”
Tonto’s Expanding Headband - “Jetsex”
Kix are another band that should have been bigger, though they were on MTV and continue to tour. Their song "Yeah Yeah Yeah" was a fraternity staple in the 1980s. I met them...a real nice bunch of guys, and their singer Steve Whiteman is a class act.
Robin Trower was my first concert ever. It’s been hard to top him....what tone.
Squeeze. The soundtrack of my college years.
CC
TSOL.
I’ve actually met The Smithereens, they came to a concert afterparty at the house I was living in with eight roommates at the time.
The Smithereens - “Only A Memory”
Monster Magnet.
Honorable mention to The Seahorses, formed by Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. They put out one great rock album in 96 before dissolving.
Looks like Jeff Beck on the guitar.
Here they are in a movie scene doing Train Kept A Rollin’ with Beck and Jimmy Page.

Lol, I though I was the only one to hear of them. Saw them years ago at Raleigh live after 5.
Dan Baird would be my 2nd.
