The term had been making the rounds in the manosphere and the right-of-center blogs before that: in that context, it was relating a man who puts up with his wife having sex with other men, to "conservatives" who put up with betrayal by the DC GOP-e. You know, "sleeping with the enemy" and all that, by analogy.

My comment was toward the person who used the term cuck incorrectly given the context.

I think wittol fits better as it implies a dim witted person having knowledge of and complicity of the act. It raises the level of crude (but accurate description of the RINO's) to Shakespearean. As in, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan, three gleeful wittols to the democrat nominee.
