When I was 7 or so years old, I remember one time my Grandma jokingly said to me, “Let’s talk politics”. I remember being a bit confused and think politics was something bad. Little did I know how close I was to the truth.

When I was a little older, I began to see ‘politics’ as one would see tiny people moving around on a chessboard - and I high up in a tree, looking down on them, somewhat bemused and VERY removed.
I lost that view, with the turmoil of the late 1960s-1970s; but i think I’m getting it back ;-)
