After a few committed months of hot yoga at a studio in New York, Christina Rice had found her niche. So when the studio announced that it was offering teacher training, she signed right up. It was only when she arrived with her mat that she noticed something striking. There were 54 other women and men in the 10-week course, and not one of them looked like her. She was the lone African American in the class.

Wtf cares?
It sounds more like insecurity on the part of the black woman. So what?
When I go to popeyes and i am outnumbered by blacks 20-1, so what?
You go to a suburban or rural class, that is going to be a different makeup than a downtown class. If you go to Tiffanys its a different makeup than if you go to Walmart.
So the fuch what? So what. You can’t cope, racebaiting snowflake?
Not everywhere is going to look identical. So what.
The intelligence of these people that buy into socialist equality ideas are so low. They paint people with broad brushes and they cant handle all the various factors as to why differences exist, and they want to blame only the bad stuff that hapens to their select small group of people they care about on others.
So what?
That would be suicide. As it happened I did a National Lampoon “Vacation,” by turning off the interstate prematurely, landing in downtown East St Louis. We should have picked our own damned cotton.
She can’t just go and make friends and enjoy herself. No. That would be like living in a color-blind society. She can’t have that.
No, it has to be some kind of big-deal issue to dwell on, obsess about, and find scapegoats to be the targets of blame.
After all look at all the black scifi writers that have taken hollywood by storm.
Look at all the successful women only companies just crushing (some even with actual bridges - cables? We dont need no stinkin cables!) the competition.
Oh wait..
The national motto, In God We Trust, needs to change to...
You Owe Me An Apology.
Never heard of spin class. It points to the state of subatomic particles to me, but that’s just geekery.

Haven’t seen many black skydivers, either. But that just means they have more sense. LOL
Strange as it seems, I can relate to the author of this piece
Affirmative Action Yoga—just what the world has been waiting for.
And this is somehow the fault of those who offered the course or paid to be there?
Not enough blacks at your gym? Sounds like a “you” problem. Bring some friends with you next time.
I’m tired of it too.
I agree. :)
More and more I am glad for my preference not to be around people more than absolutely necessary.
Dayum white ppl everwhere!
My “spin class” took me all over town today. I saw all kinds of people (mostly in cars, looking at me like I’m slightly crazy, which I am).
Plus, I picked up a new set of tires for my “spinner.” My old tires are, well, tired. Must be all those spin classes out there on the road.
I have always hated gyms past my 30s because all the gals are so thin and active. I’m very envious but that’s my problem. I’m way too insecure to go into places like that now at my age. They’re having fun working out - good for them!
Yep, but I’ll bet that after competing against each other, and given and taking your lumps, no one cared about skin color.
Poke your eyes out and you won't notice all those whypeepo.
