I’m a Cruz guy but I am very disappointed in this statement assuming it is accurately reported.

This is from a year ago and learn to read, that’s what he said at the time: “I don’t think it was necessary to appoint a special counsel”.

I echo your comments - I like Cruz - and I hope that this is an out-of-context statement - or misrepresented. I would LIKE to think that this is Cruz wanting the investigation to be “thorough” so as to eliminate all after-investigation doubts - especially since Mueller is a Democrat hit man who would like nothing more than to crucify Trump. It would be hard for the Dems to make an argument that the investigation was biased in favor of Trump with Mueller at the helm of it!
Then again - while I don’t THINK it would be in his character - maybe Cruz is still holding a grudge for all the #FakeNews and very real slander Trump himself slung at Cruz in the primary?

Mueller was appointed on 17 May 2017 by Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein, a Trump appointee. Mueller had been appointed FBI director by GWB in 2001. He had a reputation as a boy scout. He was going to check it all out and declare the Donald squeaky clean.
It took time for the truth to emerge: that Mueller is actually a Democrat swamp weasel on whose watch Uranium One went down, that he is loyal not to the United States but to the DC Swamp!
