Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart perform a triumphant "Stairway to Heaven" as a tribute to 2012 Kennedy Center Honorees Led Zeppelin.

I discovered that skit on youtube a few months ago. Hilarious.
“Stairway isnt close to being the best song on that album. When the Levee Breaks is much better.”
That’s Led Zeppelin’s only non-horrid song.
That's a joke (mostly) of course. But I have a tough time believing there's more occurrences on TV of Lovin' Feeling, than Happy Birthday.
Hell, you should see them play Battle of Evermore. One with a 12-string and the other with a 6, doing all of the overlapping voices back-and-forth style. Incredible...
Damn straight.
That must be relatively recent. I think Ive seen them in the last 4-5 years.
“Then why is it the most requested song
on American radio”
And a whole lot of Justin Bieber songs are requested on the radio.
Does that mean that Justin Bieber has the best songs?
“Is that why It was voted as having the best Guitar Solo of all time.”
And Obama was voted president.
As for Stairway to Heaven, even the guy who plays that guitar solo hates the song.
Nope. Just means people like them
more than you gave credit for.
This from Rolling Stone Magazine.
“If the entire genre of Classic Rock had to be reduced to one song it would probably be “Stairway To Heaven.” It’s been played a squajillion times on the radio since it came out in 1971, and it doesn’t show any signs of going away”
There are many more articles that tout
“Stairway to Heaven” as the most played
song on American radio. But, of course
some will not agree. I don’t know how
big of a number squajillion is though.
It would actually be impossible to
count the number of times a certain
song has been played as there’s no
way to tell when the counting started.
“You’ve lost that loving feeling”
play totals include both radio AND
television.
When the entire band hates the song, it’s a bad song.
What year was that? 1974?
Certainly not since 1992.
Tell that to the millions that have
listened to it...more than once...
the band may not like it, but the fans
do. “Margaritaville” (Jimmy Buffet),
hates the song, but it’s his most
requested. Does that make Margaritaville
a bad song?
1971.
At the risk of beating a dead horse:
“ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, refuses to release exact figures on how many times it has been played since its release.” (Stairway
to Heaven)
Adds to my previous post as to when did the actual
counting start? The song IS number 1 for sheet
music sales for rock genre. Why they won’t release
number of times played, I don’t know.
My favorite Kashmir is the Page/Plant version done with the accompanying Egyptian musicians featuring the Egyptian violinist and drummer. Done live or in studio. Yes, I like Kashmir over Stairway.
Of course Jimmy Buffet hates playing Margaritaville. It reminds him of when he was high and half drunk most of the time. But his high and half drunk Parrot head audience demands it. So he plays it for the millionth time because this makes the millions keep rolling in. Internet says his net worth is 600 million. I can’t see this. Make it 300 million.
Or are they both fat now ...
As long as there’s an audience, untold
millions will be paid. Royalties are what keeps old burnouts rich.
“Does that make Margaritaville
a bad song?”
It’s even worse.
