What can bad guys in the Vatican do?
_______________
What they are already doing/have done: take the visible institution of the Church openly and proudly to the Dark Side.
I haven’t followed Francis minutely, but seems he’s turned everything on its head from liturgy to sacraments. Ecumenical, but with _what_ is Francis promoting a closer alliance and understanding? Charismatic: “(2) a divinely conferred power or talent. As it regards sense 1, scholars in political science, psychology, and management reserve the term for a type of leadership that is extraordinary; in this field, the term “charisma” is used to describe a particular type of leader who uses “values-based, symbolic, and emotion-laden leader signaling.”. (Wikipedia) Again *divinely* inspired/conferred by what?
That’s not to say the parishioners agree, of course, but obviously, no one at the top cares. Plenty of affluent trendies to take their place: all the theater and none of the rules. Lots of drama queens would adore a campy version of Catholicism. They’d find it even more delicious that they can flout the old laws openly and claim papal authority in the bargain.
Out and proud ‘bad guys’ in the Vatican is a Cabal wet dream.
Traditional Catholics as marginalized in public perception just as Ultra-Orthodox Jews and Pentecostal Evangelicals already are.
Definitely part of the flanking attacks.
There are many bad groups and individuals who are helping the ruination of our country and others. But IMHO they aren’t all huge players. Many will become weakened or destroyed as a consequence of whatever else happens. I just don’t see the bad guys in the Catholic Church, headed by the nasty Frencis, as being such huge players that they are a real concern at this point. Ymmv.
Just an example - there are Catholic and other religious groups (somehow related to denominations anyway) that take in huge US gov $ to “take care of” refugees. Very bad. But without the gov $ they won’t be able to do that and AFAIK a lot of that money has already been stopped.
Tonight we went to see 7 Days in Entibbe. Before the movie previews there were several commercials, and one of those was kind of a puff appt on Francis, showing adoring crowds and clips of his speeches with voice overs and captioning - rather creepy.
