Oh, I dont think she is faking. And its ok to allow a talented kid with autism to get in, based on talent, and maybe with some aids he or she needs (like when they helped the blind contestant around the stage). But one doesnt need to patronize. Truly the sister of Dixie was better than crazy Catie.
Yes, I do have one son with very highly functioning autism. Life is much harder for him but he is a genius and a great person. And horrible to raise! Glad that part is over! Lol. Parents of kids with brain disorders have it hard. None of those kids score less than an 11 on the scale of parenting difficulty.
He finds out two days before duet night that his scheduled partner, Toni Braxton, is "feeling under the weather" and will be unable to appear.
So they bring the hipster vagrant back from last week, Allen Stone.
They sing Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?"
Stone sings a big chunk of this song himself, while Baby Uncle points and mugs to the audience.
That wasn't bad.
Lionel: I love it when you feel yourself, brotha!
Luke: You're feeling the energy, feeling what you're capable of.
Katy: Now you're having fun! You've arrived. It's all over you. You're meant to be here and you know it now.
Another 45 minutes of this.
Lesbian Army Wife has a receding hair line. The rest of her hair looks like beaded curtains. They sing "Run To You" with the Glee girl.
There's a lot of power in their voices, but does that mean it sounds good?
Luke: [Loved it.]
Katy: You both complemented each other so well.
Lionel: You're name will now be your title forever. The confidence you have. The sky is the limit for you now.
Colbie Caillat again. After stressing that they should sing into each other's eyes, they spend most of the song looking in opposite directions. Sounds okay, but there's no chemistry.
It's like a kid singing with his teacher.
Katy: You've gotta cool thing happening now. You're voice is really blooming now. We've gotta focus.
Luke: Great moment between you and a performer who is seasoned.
Lionel: Just grow, because that's all you can do.
Surprise guest: His girlfriend is in the audience. Seacrest brings her up on stage. She looks like a midget compared to Colbie Caillat.
She sings "Fight Song" with Rachel Platten. It sounds good. But watching a 15 year old sing this is a bit ridiculous.
Rachel Platten (never heard of her before this moment) seems really pleasant and upbeat. Kinda wish she was a judge instead of Katy. Or any of them really.
Lionel: You actually found your center. That vulnerability and that voice paid off. I loved it.
Luke: Way to shine at the right time. We picked you apart about some things. Now you can just sit and sing. That's enough to carry you forward.
Katy: Rachel gave you a gift.
Another last minute cancellation. Jessie J backed out of this duet because "she wasn't feeling well."
More like a bad case of "I'm not doing that crap!"
So Country singer Cam returns with "Diane". Meh. I'm not that impressed. Maybe I'm just irritated. 12 singers in one night is a lot of work. ELIMINATE SOMEONE ALREADY.
Luke: Great job. We tapped our foot. We sang along.
Lionel: Shooo-weee, that was good!
Katy: If you can remember the lyrics in 15 minutes, you're on fire.
Shannon deserved a spot, but no. Gotta keep the freak show going.
