When I was an industry noob I was out overseeing a geophysics sub looking for underground storage tanks. The guy broke out a proton spin magnetometer and was explaining it to me. I said it would be pretty good for finding submarines and he said the unit was a direct evolution of the early ones towed behind P3 Orions.
