Here's something else that makes Shani Davis' accomplishments look very small compared to Eric Heiden's:

Davis has been a competitive speed skater for his entire adult life. He's 35 years old, for heaven's sake. By the time Heiden was 35 he had completed medical school and was in the early stages of his professional career as an orthopedic surgeon.
