Where is the outrage?
President Donald Trump reportedly endorsed a .25 cent gas tax hike to pay for his $200 billion infrastructure plan.
We pay enough gas taxes in California, thanks to Jerry Brown. WE WANT NO MORE GAS TAXES!
You are referring to the posted article, which said .25 cents——didn’t it ever occur to you that the posted article could be wrong.
.
Of course it did. In fact I knew it was. My point was that the poster to which I responded did so without reading (or comprehending) the post to which he responded.
Get it?
Its just 25 cents a gallon.
I only buy 20 gallons a week, so that adds up to only five bucks.
That’s only $260 a year. I can swing that.
Heck, that’s just $1000 over four years! $1000 is nothing! That’s CRUMBS!
(OMG, I’m Nancy Pelosi...)
.25 cents is not 25 cents.
I never claimed it was, you blithering jerk off.
That being said, we also expect our tax money to be wisely and frugally managed. Unfortunately that expectation falls way short in most cases.
With President Trump in office I am harboring a faint glimmer of hope that there is some sanity in the prioritization of my tax contribution.
If given a choice of improving roads, bridges the electrical power distribution system for 25 cents a gallon on gas vs seeing my tax money spent on entitlements for floods of illegal aliens the choice seems simple.
Departments are being cut big time. The state department is fit by a thrid in employees and others are being cut.
Yeah,I get it-——but insulting a poster,as you did, for just not understanding something is rude and arrogant.
.
It would be DOA in Congress. It better be.
You’re obviously too stupid to go back and read the original post to which you responded in such an ignorant fashion, so let me help you. You did imply that “.25 cents” is 25 cents. I’m glad we have now discovered that you understand the difference.
And, as a bonus, we have discovered that you are a raving lunatic. That’s useful information.
Stinking Fake News Alert!
I cant speak for others, but I can accept small tax increases tied to inflation. More than doubling in one fell swoop is in unacceptable.
Mimicking the Magic Negro's "trillion$ "stimulus" which promptly disappeared without a trace... is no way for any national leader to claim sanity...
is that a quarter or one fourth of a cent
Fake News...
...thus every new permanent tax begins...
The gas taxes you paid to the state of California went to everything EXCEPT roads and bridges. In addition to bicycle trails and parks, some of it actually went to build a “gay” museum. States around the country have started to follow Californias lead. If taxes are raised, it should be written into the law that they cannot use it for anything other than streets and bridges.
No, what I mean is........
“Two bits” (that is, two “pieces of eight”) is a common nickname for a quarter. SORRY for all the confusion.
By 2019, when you take all taxes and fees together in California, you get:
47.3 cents in primary and secondary excise taxes
2 cents on the underground storage tank fee
9 cents on the sales tax (as per the Tax Foundation estimate)
Total: 58.3 cents per gallon in total taxes and fees on gasoline in California
Right now, California ranks seventh-highest in the country when it comes to total taxes and fees, according to figures calculated by the American Petroleum Institute.
Pennsylvania has the highest gas tax burden, at 59.3 cents a gallon, meaning that by mid-2019 California will be just one cent behind the top spot, barring changes by other states.
But the taxes dont end there.
The federal tax stands at 18.4 cents a gallon.....
This will be a grand total of 76.7 cents/gal
Now lets add the (fake?) Trump tax of twenty-five cents and
we will now have a new grand total of $1.017 a gallon
