A Buffalo woman who was slashed in the face with a box cutter outside the Chuck E. Cheese's in Amherst has sued town police for improperly responding to a fight in the restaurant that preceded the violent confrontation in the parking lot.
Rhondesia Betton claims in her lawsuit that officers didn't make sure the people who were kicked out of the restaurant following the earlier disturbance had left the scene completely.

We had mates blow off our routine trip to the Montreal Gran Prix so they could throw their 3 year old a party, then 4, then when 5 years old, etc. Of course it couldn’t have been thrown the following week, oh no.

Courts have consistently found that the police do not have a responsibility to provide specific protection to specific individuals.
I don’t expect this case to change anything.
On the other hand, maybe the Town will decide it is prudent to go ahead and settle with her as long as the dollar amount is not too much.
She apparently doesn’t realize SCOTUS has already decided on this, and LEO have NO OBLIGATION to protect anyone. They are merely obligated to clean up the mess and investigate.

I used to take my children to this actual location.
I would not step foot in it now.
Is it racist to say it’s overrun with black “families” who let their children run wild in the place with no discipline or control over them? I don’t care- it’s true. Black people in general should be ashamed at the behavior of some of these people.
Try to tell me “white kids do it too” and I’ll tell you Bull$hit. I am 60 years old- I’ve been to a LOT more events with white children all over, and never seen this type of behavior. Of the few times I’ve been to a place with primarily black attendance I’ve had to leave in disgust at least 50% of the time.
And if you try to ask them to control their children’s behavior you get threatened.
I am getting sick of this “white privileged” nonsense when I see people acting like animals. 50% are on welfare, and 25% work for the government. Some do both.

It just enforces the obvious, that they can't guarantee protection and can't be liable for failing to protect everyone. Yeah, I don't think this one will get far unless the police violated some written policy.

That seems to be a ‘growing’ trend..
Plus with all the cell/camera phones one NEVER knows when he/she is ‘on the record’ and with technology like it is, ‘they’ can put you somewhere you are not.
Why, in a lot of instances it is better to have your own phone set to ‘track you’ as at least you may have some proof where the ‘others’ have you where you aren’t.
I ‘forgot’ to plug in my cell (fairly new -Boost/Samsung) and I got an email with a message and a map ‘showing’ me where my phone last was.. (EVERYTHING but a picture of it sitting on the desk beside me)
And yes, I am (do they still call it) paranoid enough to put a piece of BLACK electricians tape over the lens on my PC and Laptop (At least the ones I see).
If you use Google Maps on your phone you get a recap the first of the month where you have been the previous month.
Kind of eerie when at 18 I was in awe that I was able to hit an instrument at my work station and send a ‘signal’ around the world and farther....and have someone answer me and send a ‘different’ dit dah combination back to me.
