the problem all large-city public schools that doom them to failure

- Unions. Can’t fire problem/non-performing teachers
- Discipline. Can’t “fire” or manage problem students.

To draw a finer bead on what is going on, you need to connect these two statements:

“China and India are not worrying about the length of the school day,” she replied. “We have to toughen up.”

“There is something wrong with a system, a monopolistic system that is not allowing kids to succeed.”

Both these countries have monopolistic systems so therefore it is possible to have a successful educational system within that structure.

The problem we have in the United States monopolistic system is one that it is liberal, anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-capitalistic and whose goal, as per the admission of the ones who structured it, is changing the United States. I personally have heard them brag about it. Education is not the end goal of American education. The eradication of the traditional American nation is.

“What we prove is that there’s nothing wrong with the children,” she replied. “There is something wrong with a system, a monopolistic system that is not allowing kids to succeed.”

...

Yep. Crooked politicians want to raise ignorant people who don’t hold crooked politicians accountable.

Indeed. These charter schools have majority kids and parents who want to win. Public schools have majority kids and parents who don't give a rip.

Suck out the winners from public schools and you have a motivated group with supportive families. Left in the public schools are an unmotivated group with fewer supportive families. Public advocates hate it when their mediocrity is highlighted ....

Public schools are not willing to failing kids fail - so few do. Those teachers that do have "too many" kids fail are reprimanded or fired. What should be happening is making kids accountable for learning. If they don't learn it, they fail. It would be amazing how fast the winners would learn to win.

Interesting timing on the Stossel article, with no mention that just over a week ago an organization closely tied to Moskowitz shut down. You can be in favor of reforming the public school system without tying yourself to a Michael Bloomberg-loving scam artist Democrat like Moskowitz.

This is a big scam. These tiny charter schools that have good test scores skim the top few percent of poor students from NYC schools and kick them out if they flunk or misbehave. It has no relevance to improving the performance of the great mass of students who are not intellectually gifted.

“I only get $14,500...”

That’s still more money than many suburban districts in the NYC area.

Eva Moskowitz is a Democrat, a former New York City Council member, a liberal. But she’s right about this. The public schools, especially in the inner cities, are failing the children — and from what we know about progressivism, likely deliberately so.

That’s why they fight school choice, especially when minorities are concerned. How can you keep the underclass under if you educate them?

This is one of the proofs that the left regards minorities not as people but as property — THEIR property. And it’s time we said so, repeatedly.

And they don’t care one whit about kids — because they don’t care one whit about ANYONE but themselves.

School choice is one of teh new civil rights battlegrounds, and the progressive left is on teh same side they’ve always been on : the side of opposing civil rights.

Failed public schools are a direct result of Liberal politics/payoffs. Funny, it’s typically inner city schools that fail the very people that vote for these liberals.
