Understand your concern, but they only have so many hours.
A soldier with discipline can, and will learn to throw the grenade in AIT or elsewhere.
A soldier who can throw the grenade, without discipline, will never throw it in combat, because he will be too busy running away.

Grenade training was literally one day. That can be handled at the AIT or unit level. Land Nav I agree. The only thing I can think is GPS has made it obsolete in the trainer's eyes. That is a mistake.
