But if you put yourself in his position, with his responsibilities, doesn’t it make sense that he’s going to put Russia first and take care of their interests, just as PJT says all countries should? That doesn’t mean he CAN’T be our friend any more than any other country that puts itself first can be. Countries align out of self-interest, not altruism. We just need to make it in his best interests to be nice to us.

Yes, I absolutely think he should and does, nothing I said was meant to imply otherwise. Lots of water under the bridge and lots of distrust between USA and Russians - doesn’t make for friends at this point.
Trust and friendship is earned. Don’t think we are there yet. Even if we were, remain skeptical - Trust but verify-ya know?
