>> They still have the major media organs
Agree. I think that’s an important point.
But maybe to help dry out that wet blanket a bit, I think some of the indictments are going to be for media types. Or if not indictments, at least some action to remove people. We’ve seen Weinstein fall, and Ailes? or somebody high in one of the networks. Newsweek magazine was recently raided.
I think we need to be super careful NOT to impinge on the freedom of the media. That would indeed prompt screams of “fascism” and similar. But how do we get the truth out when the media is lying, spinning, and omitting the most important facts?
What do you think?
A LOT of their wealth is going to be or has been confiscated.
A tricky aspect to deal with but absolutely crucial.
Well in my opinion the election showed that “the media”, i.e. NYT, WaPo, CNN, etc., is talking to +-30% of the population. The right-leaning media including YouTube and the blogsphere, etc., is probably talking to another +-30%. Then there’s an almost equally large group in the middle that doesn’t really hear about anything that doesn’t involve Kim Kardashian.
So, we don’t really need to worry about “the media” very much, they’re in their eco-chamber, but they don’t influence very much outside of it. As long as we’re united and enthusiastic, and we can every now and then get something across to the Kardashian viewers, then we’re doing pretty well.
But the point being, it would take a lot to generate the kind of mass hysteria implied by the OP.
