American speedskater Shani Davis criticized Team USA's flag-bearer selection process in a tweet Thursday morning.
After luger Erin Hamlin was chosen as the United States' representative for the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Davis wrote the following:
Shani DavisVerified account @ShaniDavis
I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event. @TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. I can wait until 2022. #BlackHistoryMonth2018 #PyeongChang2018
According to the Associated Press, Hamlin and Davis were two of the eight candidates to carry the flag. A 4-4 deadlock in the voting led to a coin flip, which resulted in Hamlin winning the right to be flag-bearer.
The United States Olympic Committee made it known that voters were aware of a coin flip being the final tiebreaker if no majority decision could be reached.

One wonders if she would have called the coin toss dishonorable had she won.
Oops! I mean “He”
Us’in rednecks up here in Central NY ( the ones Cuomo told us to leave?) are very proud of Erin Hamlin and hopes she does well on her final entry . She is retiring after this Olympics.
No surprise here, right out of the Maxine Waters playbook.
“Honorable” would have been “give it to the black guy to make-up for his 300 years of oppression”.
Slightly off-topic, female lugers fascinate me.
What is it that possesses an intelligent, attractive young woman to lie-down on a flexible flyer and then hurl herself down a bobsled track at 80 MPH?
>> Then quit flapping your lips.<<
LIPS? Be careful how you use that word.
>>She lost the coin toss, move on lady<<
Probably a Janus coin but with tails on both sides.
This guy is just one more petty sexist, upset because a woman won the coin toss....
Well duh, I mean the coin had a white dude’s head on it, right? Raaaaaaaacisssssssss!
There is no ice in Africa.
I stand corrected. :)
