Has anybody here used an online tax service to file their taxes?
I don’t send anything in. State Taxes are covered. The numbers off the forms suffice. The IRS has access to them.
Anyway, after the entire process, it filed the Federal for me for free and I just received confirmation from the IRS that they received it. The refund will be direct deposited.
As for the state, it cost me $12.50 for that filing which is ok and I was able to authorize the payment I owed via bank debit. I also received confirmation from the state that it was received.
In conclusion, I used to use Turbotax which cost at least $50 and then I would have to pay an additional amount if I wanted to arrange for direct deposit refund.
Two years ago a close friend who is a CPA and tax expert offered to do my taxes for $50 and I was ok with that. I would rather pay a friend for his efforts than support a software company.
Anyway, I had to go with this online free service because I couldn't get a hold of my friend and get my tax stuff to him on time for me to get the refund I need.
All in all, I'd use FreeTaxUsa.com again in the future....
Thanks for you advice guys.........
I am glad it worked out for you. Tax time sucks.
One Monkey off your back. :^)
