Super Bowl LII will be a test for the NFL's season of discontent

When Super Bowl LII kicks off next Sunday with the New England Patriots facing the Philadelphia Eagles, there will be more on the line than the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the winner. A season of turmoil and changing viewer habits has chipped away at what has long been the most durable TV franchise. As the league's marquee event, the Super Bowl has always been bigger than football, drawing non-fans who are partying with friends and watching the big-budget, celebrity-studded commercials priced at $5 million per 30 seconds that will be teased online and presented to an audience of more than 100 million viewers. Spending on Super Bowl ads has surged 35% in the last decade.

These a$$halves have no conscious or class. They’ll kneel. They are too stupid to realize they are cutting their own throats with an arrogance of thinking the football fans who actually pay the bills will overlook it.

And as for the the Medal of Honor winner, he most likely has too much class to let these morons piss him off to fight back. He’s earned his right to let others fight for him on this.

I won’t watch it at all. I have a sad feeling in my heart to see such a hero stand and probably shake hands and be cowed down to with false respect by people who have not shown the respect for this man and thousands of other like they should have over the last two years. It’s a lie by the players to do that as they have already done the other.

As for the indoor stadium, it is. But it also has transparent walls and ceiling like the Crystal Cathedral in L.A. Thought they might try it as my understanding is it could be seen. And let’s face it, they are feeling the financial effects of their stupidity already. So using a grand stand play like that along with the MOH winner to try to offset their low attendance due to actions in the dumpster already wouldn’t be beyond their crassness.

You make a good point.

That's the funny thing - and the thing that should scare the NFL excrement-less... I missed it for several weeks, but then didn't even bother checking scores. Now the NFL is down there with NBA, PGA, Pro bowlers, fishing - "pro" sports I've never watched or cared about.

If other fans that boycotted them this year have had similar experiences - we're not coming back, regardless of what they do or don't do. A fair portion of us are permanent losses.
