The same song, "Let's Make Some Memories," done for the Star Trek 2009 remake, and done for Blake's 7, the British sci-fi show.

I’ve got four of her albums - Best Side of Goodbye, First Night, Love Decides and Stay the Night. All absolutely wonderful albums.

I agree. She’s one of the best.

But do me a favor. Try something by Julia Ecklar. She’s an amateur who is pro at everything she tries. Her friends got together and bought her an orchestra for one of her albums. Her voice has power, passion and total control.

Yes, I’ll listen to Julia.. thanks for recommending her..by the way; SPOTIFY has ALL of Jane’s albums; every one, including the entire complete “CHASING RAINBOWS” album... (found here - spotify:user:1230873453:playlist:63xq5F0UN9PEqOp1xZrDe8 )

BUT also her Christmas album, and her first LIVE IN CONCERT album....(she has TWO live in concert albums..one of which was actually filmed, and is available on DVD.. called “SAFE RETURN”..).

Oops, I looked, THAT album is NOT available on Spotify...or on Youtube.. but, it’s a great album which can be ordered on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Jane-Olivor-Safe-Return/dp/B0001IN0CG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1516942622&sr=8-1&keywords=jane+Olivor+Safe+Return

Thanks again for recommending Julia..I’ll listen to her now...

Just watched Key to Time: Rybos Operation. It’s just like watching Blakes 7, and is written by one of the same writers! Tom Baker doesn’t have the character development that Avon has in B7, though.

This is the song Jane did that got me hooked.

I had heard this song sung by others many times before, but when I heard Jane sing it it was as if I had never REALLY listened to it before. I was “enchanted” and forever after a fan of Jane.

Wuli...

We saw Jane perform in Dallas when she was on tour in 1979; a few weeks later, on that same tour, her performance was filmed for PBS...she performed the same set she sang in Dallas...this video performance is no longer generally available; (I know, as I’ve searched high and low for it) the lady who posted this video had the complete performance, but then; a family member taped over most of it.. tsk..

BUT.. YES~ I agree; this video performance is one of the most spectacular versions of “SOME ENCHANTED EVENING” I’ve ever heard.. she recorded it in the studio for her first album as well.. here’s the studio version - https://youtu.be/_lXpvAMBpxc

A SINGLE 45 record was included within a FEW of the original “FIRST NIGHT” albums - I have an Mp3 recording of that version, which is different from the youtube studio version posted above.. I originally downloaded this 45 version from youtube; however; it seems not to be posted there anymore.

If you’ve not heard her first album, titled “FIRST NIGHT” you’re in for quite a treat .. it’s available on Spotify AND on youtube as well.. I hope you’ll enjoy the Studio version of “SOME ENCHANTED EVENING”..

Thanks for the Jane info.

Unfortunately, while I was in Manhattan at the start of Jane’s career, and though I never saw a live performance by Jane I surely had heard a number of her recordings in the 1970s and early 80s, but those memories became lost to me and I only rediscovered Jane in the last decade. (I never in those early years - 60s, 70s, 80s - purchased and kept music albums very much. What I listened to then was what was on the radio or the TV or at “Broadway” shows. The only live concerts I went to were free concerts in Central Park).

After discovering her “Some Enchanted Evening” in about 2007, I searched out and found many of the her other recordings which upon hearing I did remember.

How and why Jane’s work was lost in my mind so long I do not know, but I am terribly glad it was not permanent. I now own some CD recordings of Jane and will look for what you have informed me is available.

I am on a couple Facebook groups of fans of Jane’s.

I remember Blake’s 7. It was good.

The earlier Dr. Who shows have quite a bit more whimsy, especially Tom Baker. Sometimes it’s enjoyable to see actors and writers not take themselves so seriously.

I was OBSESSED with Blakes 7. Went to a couple of Chicago conventions and ran an analysis newsletter for a while. I still think my Blakes 7 music video set is the most intellectually deep of the ones I’ve made. They used to be distributed by the Horizon Society in the UK. A number of the actors and Terry Nation came up to our room to see the videos. Such fun!

I do like the whimsy, too. Anytime anyone laughs at themselves - me, too - I love it.

“Dr Who jumped the shark. Dead. PC liberal gay agenda. Ruined.”

EXACTLY. We used to enjoy watching Dr. Who so much. I noticed a few years ago they started getting politically correct. Really disliked the Peter Cappaldi doctor. Now, apparently the doctor is a woman. Is her sidekick going to be a woman, too? Haven’t watched, and WON’T, till they come to their senses. What’s next? Will they make SHERLOCK transgender?

Watching the really old Dr. Whos, they’re so cheesy. Sort of like watching the original Star Trek. The props and sets are so fake. But they were inventive at the time, I guess. And star trek wasn’t about the background; it was about the characters. Dr. Who was a little of both.

Did you ever watch the program about William Hartnell, the first doctor? Can’t remember if it was a movie or documentary, but it was interesting. It was originally a children’s show, which I’m sure you already know. I don’t think it really became mostly for adults, until David Tenant. But even then, it was pretty mild to begin with, just getting further and further into social politics, with time. I was incensed with the homosexuality of the character, Captain Jack. That’s when it started to annoy me. Then they backed off of that for a while.

For Jane Oliver fans, there's also "Honesty" for Smallville's Lex and Lana Lang, but it has a bit of partial nudity so it won't be for everyone, or for work viewing.
