Any suggestions for a good book?

Posted on 01/13/2018 11:16:58 AM PST by A Cyrenian

Can you give me some suggestions for a good read (beside FreeRepublic)?

I've always like Tom Clancy's books and Dean Koontz.

I started using Kindle and thought I would ask you what you liked.

Thanks for your help.

A Higher Call: An Incredible True Story of Combat and Chivalry in the War-Torn Skies of World War II

An interesting and true story of WW2 combat flight. A B17 is escorted to safety by a German fighter pilot. The story tells both sides of the air war through the eyes of both pilots. Even more interesting is their meeting after the war

I have a six book series available on Kindle starting with COUGAR! A Wildlife Thriller Set in the Low Country of South Carolina A conspiracy, a little intrigue, lots of action, and no gratuitous sex or profanity. My readers are conservative for the most part, and they love the characters and the storyline. You might also.

The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson. I just read them for the third time this last summer. Excellent reads.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

The Girl Who Played With Fire.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.

All three books have been made into movies which are very good too.

"A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole.

My favorite novel, and that's saying a lot because I love a lot of novels.

Interesting book. she did not cover everything, especially her run in with Hillary after the disastrous Commander in Chief interview with Matt Laurer.

I almost felt sorry for her given the mess she walked into after Debbie got thrown out. I was floored in a way by how Hillary and her campaign were sucking up all the donated money at the state and national level and had the DNC on a handout to keep functioning.

The real bottom line is that after all of Donna's experience in politics she still does not understand the how and why Trump got elected.

One thing I felt sorry for her was the at the end of the book when she talked about her dog being poisoned. That goes too far and is unforgivable.

iWar by Bill Gertz.

He gets the Trump/Russia stuff wrong but there is still a lot of good stuff in this.

PS: This is likely why Un killed his stepbrother this time last year.

The Evil Has Landed by Robert N. Going, a police procedural murder mystery written from a conservative viewpoint. Very cheap Kindle version available. 99 cents last I looked.

In non-fiction you can’t beat David Pietrusza’s 1920: The Year of the Six Presidents. After that read everything else he has written.

“Neptune’s Inferno” about the naval campaign around the Solomon Islands in 1942. Amazing.

“Witness” by Whittaker Chambers.

“Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America’s Enemies” by M. Stanton Evans.

“Once an Eagle” by Anton Myrer.

LEGIONS OF THE FOREST

A 400+ page fictional account of the disastrous Varus campaign in the Teutoburger Wald in 9 A.D. in which three entire Roman legions, plus support troops and camp followers, were wiped out. This loss led Caesar Augustus to roam his palace screaming "Varus! Give me back my legions!" and resulted in the Rhine, not the Vistula, being the furthest edge of the Roman Empire in northern Europe.

Doesn’t have his father’s touch. And the last book of one of the series - my brain freezes - was SO bad that it’s in my throw out pile, and that’s from a book collector with a 42 foot long hallway of bookshelves, a library and about 10 scattered bookcases throughout the house. Though my terror is that I’ll rebuy it by mistake.
