I was outside a coffee shop this morning and the mom was on the phone - I could tell she was panicked. It was 10am here in Seattle. I thought I hear her say the word “missile” but figured I must have heard wrong. I guess not. Asian gal, so perhaps was calling her family in Hawaii.
“I love you too - now put Daddy on the phone. No - it will be okay - your safe - I love you - now put Daddy on the phone! Okay - I know - but you need to go get Daddy RIGHT now!”
Scary stuff for her and her family.
ME? I had no clue, and thought she was dealing with her own little family crisis.
Reminds me of the book “Robinson Crueso” where he is on the island alone and is free and easy, finding enough food, setting up a camp, etc. It was a year or two of that as I recall. Then he goes exploring and sees the footprints on the beach on the other side of the island.
He freaks out - what if they are head hunters, etc. He then builds a fortress around his camp, only ventures out at night and hides during the day for another two years or something living in fear.
He comes out of that stage at some point. Says something about how it was Providence that allowed him those first few years of peace. And how it is Providential in life on how many times we are so close to harm but don’t even recognize it, so we still go about our lives. I think of that once in awhile on the road. Except I guess I DO know how close I am to one idiot driver with their cat in their lap or chatting with their passenger and not paying attention and they are two feet from me going 70 mph.
A neighbor has a son in the military stationed in Hawaii...she was having a meltdown this morning. I felt terrible for her. Her son, her daughter-in-law, grand baby all right there. I have family in the military now and still cannot imagine...
Lots of scary stuff going on around the world but our swamp is not concerned about anything but getting Trump before he can get their swamp drained. Pathetic.
