Sometimes that'll unexpectedly get you through the worst of disasters. Do you remember the baker in white on top of the stern of the sinking Titanic in the James Cameron movie, he'd been drinking hard and was lurching into things?
That really happened. He was plastered, Titanic sank from beneath his feet. The desperate crowd in the water didn't get him, he paddled around in freezing water for two hours and a lifeboat picked him up. He attributed his survival to being blitzed. :-)
