My dad worked at Beech later Raytheon and retired from Beech Hawker, I worked there when it was Raytheon Aircraft. My mill had an expediters desk next to it. No one sat there on second shift so if the phone rang I would answer it in my best radio voice-—WUNT, what do you WANT,Caller? Or any other assorted call letters some obscene etc. One night I got “do you know who this is?!” I said no, do you know who this is? Answer: no! “Good!” And I hung up. Turns out it was some muckety muck looking for some parts. They didn’t think I was funny. Ahhhhh good times.

I *grew up* in the hangars at Beech Hobby, and at 12yo consoled my pawpaw through the systems conversion to Raytheon. He retired as soon as he could after the buyout. I miss hanging out in hangars.

My grandpa used to let me lounge around in Armand Hammer’s craft. He rarely used them.. just kept them hangared for trips to Midland/Odessa.
