If you could have lunch with anyone in history, living or dead, who would it be?
Moses. I’ve got some questions.
I remember the POW bracelets well. It seemed like in my area it unfortunately was the “cool” thing to do and I doubt my pears that had them really understood what it was about. I was introduced to Stockdale at his cousins funeral by his widow, who as I said were friends and neighbors of my grandparents. Their son, my uncle, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism posthumously so they had something in common. Stockdale was gracious and friendly towards me, a total stranger and a nobody. He was a true gentleman.
Audrey Hepburn
1. Abe Lincoln
2. Teddy Roosevelt
3. Jack London
Shakespeare
Joan of Arc
Brigette Bardot
Adam...If I chose him, I’d be saying...Adam, what the heck was you thinking. Because you couldn’t control your wife and ate that apple, has caused mankind a LOT of pain and misery.
My dad. He never met my wife. What a joy it would be for them to meet. My wife has heard countless stories about him over the years. My dad was a tough hombre but very family oriented. He would have treated my wife like gold. They probably would have tag-teamed against me when I got outta line.
When I learned more about him as I got older, the more I found out, the more I admired him.
It was his quiet stone steel conviction in the face of horrible adversity that just makes me wish I had met him in person and shaken his hand.
You might not have noticed but Jesus was mentioned first in the posters initial reply but I thought of this myself. I have come to the conclusion that having received our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus in Holy Communion yesterday (just around noon incidentally) and I already have a very close personal (dare I say intimate, lest it be misinterpreted in the butchered common lexicon of the day) relationship with Our Lord.
My choice would be my Father, he's been gone since 1979, he died suddenly of an aortic embolism while we were returning from a two week camping vacation in the Colorado Rockies. Looking back those last two weeks were a gift and we had left nothing unfinished but he was my best friend and I still miss him.
LOL!
