Me.........I'm home now.

Attempted to drive to niece's house for Christmas eve but we got hit with a snowstorm this afternoon and due to the lack of salt trucks on the highway, driving was extremely dangerous. After about 8 miles driving 25 MPH on ice and snow, I finally got off the freeway and headed home.

On the eastbound side of the expressway there were a few spin out accidents that resulted in traffic coming to a complete halt. I have to believe that due to the normal amount of traffic, it had to be backed up for 15 miles to I-75 with nobody moving.......That had to really suck for those people.

Oh well, I had some left over Chinese food from a couple days ago and all is well.......

Preferred working the holidays as none of the brass was around.
= = = = = = = = = =
Likewise, I also preferred nights for same reason but always had some sort of nonparticipation with owners/supervisors on a routine basis.

Was contracted to a company a few years back and ‘volunteered’ for 20DEC-4JAN - had a lot of good runs and made some good money.

Monkeywrench got thrown in when week after New Year I wasn’t getting any work. Went to the owner and gave him a piece of my mind and what I thought of his dispatchers etc. He said it was HIS idea as the other contractors should have the opportunity to make some money since I did so well over the holidays.
I very impolitely explained to him that ‘others’ that ‘needed the work now’ could have also volunteered. I did tell him that I really didn’t care about the ‘others’ and didn’t really ‘care’ for him and how could he even think of that when he and his dispatchers didn’t have to worry about ‘finding someone’.

He was very unapologetic so I reminded him of a J Paycheck song that was popular for a while.

Of course, next Company I went to contract for was VERY interested in knowing they had someone that would cover the weekends and holidays with absolutely no problem.

AND THAT Jimmy, is why I made the big bucks..<: <: <:

More people are spending Christmas alone because they have their devices for going to into social media, and because it’s the path of least resistance it makes perfect sense.

And Merry Christmas to you.

The NRV is some beautiful country.
Going to be chilly next week. Cover up and throw another log on the fire.

smart move to head back home in a snow storm.
God Bless all of you who are alone.
Sometimes Christmas and the holidays can be a very lonely time.

And there are those who are around people , even family but still feel alone. In the age of electronics many seniors like myself sit while the younger set check their latest texts! HUGE SIGH.........

Looking forward to January here.....

Heh. I’ll give this one some Friskies tuna if he shows up (should be soon) tonight, and will open him a can of human food chicken chunks tomorrow.
And maybe a share of the sausage I’ll grill for my Christmas dinner.

Divorced and estranged from my son while living in a city where I have no family. It’s quiet, but then it always is.

“All Alone Am I” but snug and comfortable knowing I have lots of FReeper friends here and a wonderful President in Donald Trump.

I pray for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone.

Well, do two cats count?

So, far, this is one of the best Christmases eves I have had for almost twenty years.

I just watched A Christmas Carol from 1951 with Alastair Sim.

And now, Die Hard.

Merry Christmas!
