We don't actually know what they tried to do.
One would think if they had it would be in this report.
I actually thought the first report by the NY Times was pretty sketchy.
This one by Popular Mechanics had much more info.
For example, I didn't previously focus much on the craft under water. Presumably larger than a submarine, just beneath the surface.
To me, that's the big story here. The tic tac craft was most likely a drone.
Why would we think that?
At this stage, such a report would likely be carefully crafted from the ground up with great attention being paid what to put in it and what to leave out of it.
