My 4 year old grandson is into Hot Wheels now.
My toys were stolen when we moved to Southeast Asia back in the early 60s. I did have my trombone though, and a guitar that my dad let me use as much as I wanted to. And that Christmas I got a set of weights (iron plates in kilos). Childhood was over and I was only 10. But it’s all good. The cat fishing in the klongs was ecceptional!
Remember this stuff?
You and me both. I think I got a purple stuffed cow back in the olden days. LOL
I have plenty of that now!
No toys for us older folks back then. We played with sticks and rocks, remember?
Forgot about Lincoln Logs. My brother got those, along with a metal western themed Fort. It came with plastic cowboys, indians, horses, and cavalry figures. Not sure if it was Fort Apache or not.
My oldest son, age 51 now, was into Matchbox Cars. When he was little, he drove us crazy begging for a Matchbox street cleaner. I think my mother was the one to finally find him one. They were pretty rare. I'm not sure if he still has any of those stashed away somewhere.
Same here. Too old . I had a cat, I think. Does that count as a toy?
Incredible Edibles: My days are many moons prior to this. We had to deal with Excrete-able Eatables. These were usually prepared by my older brother and myself from available food stocks. We then dared each other to consume what we had prepared. My mother, bless her soul, was a French-Canadian country woman of the depression era who usually made us eat what we made before we got anything else! Excrete-able Eatables had a limited time span!
I played with a pineapple hand grenade I found outside a German barracks when I was 5. German kids kept their distance.
I knew enough not to pull the pin. Toss it a few feet, pick it up. Toss it again until Mom took it away.
That I do recall. Caps were fun and noisy.
You lucky Ba$tard...you grew up rich didn't you!..../s
I got one of those for Christmas.
I think that kit came with a little alpha particle source.
Can you imagine carrying that through an airport now?
My brother had one!
At the toy store near my parents, they had a Cabbage Patch Kid raffle, but you didn’t win the doll, you won a chance to BUY the doll. That’s what it was like.
