Bethany Lynn Stephens had been gone for about a day since she left to walk her dogs. So her father went out to look for her at the area she frequented.
There, authorities say, he found her two dogs, guarding what he first thought was an animal carcass.
Much to his horror, discovered that it was not, Goochland County Sheriff Jim Agnew told reporters at a news conference Friday.
Investigators in Goochland, Va., a rural community about 30 miles outside of Richmond, say the petite, 5-foot-1 young woman, who weighed a little more than 100 pounds, was mauled to death by her dogs, which had a combined weight of about twice hers, while out on a walk earlier this week. Her father found her Thursday evening in a wooded area that used to be a farm, about a half a mile from the main road...
The dogs clearly, at least in our estimation in a dark night, had something to do with this. It was an absolutely grisly mauling, Agnew told reporters. In my 40 years of law enforcement, Ive never seen anything quite like it. Hope Id never see anything like it again.
Officials from the countys animal control department and sheriffs office spent at least an hour trying to tranquilize the animals, Agnew said. Investigators also found bloody articles of clothing scattered in the area.

I pray it stays up because eventually, someone may slip up and mouth off a bit too much.
That’s why it always shoots high...
Mountain lions and black bears will generally just take off when faced with large barking dogs.
Neither animal really wants to fight them, unless cornered.
I hope and pray that you are right.
Maybe that is why her FB is still up.
I don’t know.
This is just horrible.
/not going in the woods, ever again
I’ve never had a small dog-or one that isn’t on that stupid “bad dog” list-I prefer large breeds that can join in hikes in the woods on their leash and harness and be protective when indoors-I have never taken my dog on a visit with me-they stay home-I think it is rude to subject others to your animals-or children, for that matter-uninvited. If your kid acts out, you may lose a friend-if your dog acts out it could be a disaster. No dog, large or small is safe with the small kids of strangers or a friend their owner does not see often.
A neighbor’s Yorkie got under the gate on the property once when I was outside throwing a ball for my Husky girl to run after and fetch-the minute she saw the little dog, she decided it was prey-went after it full throttle, grabbed it by the back of the neck and started shaking it-fortunately it was a cold day-so all she got was a mouthful of purple sweater-but I had to grab Husky girl’s collar and yell “leave it” several times before she let the dog go-it ran screeching all the way to its own place.
...the voice of thy brother's sister's blood crieth unto me from the ground...
*sigh* Yeah, another thing that points to it being her own dogs.
No, it was not.
The skank owner *ordered* those dogs to attack the man

She didn’t *want* to stop it.
She ordered the dogs to do it.
This was not a random thing.
She meant for the dogs to attack him.
Honesty in posting is a good thing.
:(
Terrible way to go. There is a reason wolves were hunted to near extinction whenever humans came into an area.
Still not truthful.
This was an intentional attack set in motion by the owner, who -wanted- the guy hurt, for whatever thing they’d been arguing over.

Stop misrepresenting it as something that “just happened for no reason”.
The psycho bitch sicced her dogs on him and went to jail for her trouble.
How do you figure that?
If something else mauled her to death, what should they have done?
Arrested it?
Truth!
And now we have them back again, thanks to the gaia-worshiping morons in the DNR.
Plott Hound? The brindle coat and muzzle look like a Plott. Plotts were/are bred in Carolina’s to be bear hunters. Never heard of one attacking a human though.
I think actually seeing a mauling by wolves on a dog/human would turn many liberals to conservatives in that respect.
Bark at it and scare it away, if it were a mt lion or bear, at least bite its heels or try to interfere in some manner.
OTOH when our Cairn thought we had an intruder she barked her silly little head off and pushed my dad down the hall...
