Plott Hound? The brindle coat and muzzle look like a Plott. Plotts were/are bred in Carolina’s to be bear hunters. Never heard of one attacking a human though.

I would say that while we should withhold judgement until all the information is in to determine if her dogs did indeed do what they say, we should also withhold judgement without knowing the nature of the dogs.

Another Freeper commented that there is much abuse going on in the breeding of these dogs (and not just in the area of pit bulls) but at what point do the negative characteristics of a bad breed override the good characteristics of a good breed, especially in the case of someone who may be trying to do just that? Best we wait until we know the lineage of the animals.

Definite Plott mix.
The only other brindle like that is the “reverse brindle” in Boxers and it doesn’t look like a Boxer mix to me, at all.

That part of VA is full of hunters with Plotts and the pet adoption sites have tons of them looking for new homes, all the time.

Deer dogs, bear dogs and boar dogs are common things, in that area.
