More than 400 Subway restaurant franchise owners are protesting a $5 footlong sandwich deal scheduled to start in January and last for two months.
The group is concerned with financial losses the deal will bring their way. In a letter dated Dec. 6 the petitioners sent to Subway, the group cited five years of deals that have "decimated" their profits, according to The New York Post.

No reason to go to Subway. EVERY town has a local sandwich shop that is far superior.
I didn't know that other stuff was turkey, a BMT is what I usually got, had salama, ham, and the pink Italian stuff. I liked the Monterey Cheddar bread but also lean to the plain Italian.
We have a new one now, new-to-us Jersey Mike's just a little further away, haven't tried it yet. Don't know why but never went to Hungry Hobo which isn't really sub but fast.
I love how so many places put their menus on the web.
“Also, their 9-grain wheat bread (which I used to buy for the tuna subs) is high in fat and even worse than the regular bread.”
Not according to independent reports.
“I didn’t know that other stuff was turkey,”
Only in one sandwich. The cold cut combo.
Subway was NEVER a great sub, it was just the first to grow a franchise large scale nationally
“And you can back up your claim?????”
I can confirm that that they taste like Fake Subs. The meet does not taste well, but neither do the Veggies and such. I can get real subs at a nearby convenience store deli that cost less to boot.
Firehouse would agree, but Jimmy John’s is no different that subway other than they have gotten their assembly system set up to be faster
“Sell the best sandwiches you can make and people will be lined up out the door, and you dont need a franchise for that.”
There is a place near me,a very small place, that is great-——especially their specialty, hot roast beef sandwiches.
They do a booming business.
.
jimmy johns always gives me head ache. never tried firehouse, i just gave up on trying to eat out since most times I do i feel horrible in one way or other.
“The meet does not taste well”
I don’t think meets have any taste buds ...
Hard to consider going to a Subway anymore, Winco’s remade subs are less money, more bread and nearly 4 times the meat and double the cheese.
Of course, in a town of less than 10,000, there’s two franchises.
Captain Nemo’s steak subs, best sandwich ever, Galligaskins italian sub terrific but what ever happened to them?
Obscure DFW sandwich shop reference. Maybe someone needs to start a favorite sub shop thread. Now I’m hungry. Oh yea, Subway does actually suck.
We used to have a deli called Mossmans. Their subs were the best Id ever tasted. Id crave them. They shut down many years ago and Ive never found one that compares.
Yeah, I think Subway is overrated.
You can't buy their bread except there. Maybe they should franchise that for retail stores. I think Panera is good, too but only had part of a sandwich someone left here.
I think I forgot I liked that $5 foot-long deal. I never got out there when they had the Reuben, don't know how that went over.
The past week I had a breaded chicken Parmesan hoagie with tomato sauce and a pulled pork sandwich both from Wawa. MUCH BETTER than the Subway sandwiches. Somehow all Subway sandwiches seem to have the same Subway undertaste to them.
Thanks. I was wondering why I don’t like them. You described it, it’s an undertaste.
But living in LA, Canter's is only a traffic jam or two away, and worth the hassle for their pastrami and brisket.
My wife ordered a couple of subs for us while I went into the john. I come out and the manager thinks I just slipped in to take advantage of her facilities without buying anything.
The subs were mediocre, too. I don’t think we’ll go back.
