St Moritz, Switzerland (CNN)A number of US athletes have spoken out against Donald Trump during his presidency -- and skier Lindsey Vonn has become the latest to have her say. Targeting Olympic gold at February's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Vonn is in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she spoke passionately about what it means to compete for the US ski team. "Well I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president," Vonn told CNN's Alpine Edge.

The Olympics is not an official function of the United States of America.
It is a rinky-dink for-profit sports league that plays on nationalism to gin up interest. The athletes represent nothing but the US Olympic Team, which is a private organization.
If one thin dime of government money goes to the USOC, it is one dime to many.
I can see one single pro-Trump guy showing up and putting a sign in front of her as she starts her ‘show’. She’ll freak out and be guaranteed to lose.

If the USOC wants to get all political, maybe they should be taken to task by the Left for the under-representation of racial minorities in the Winter sports...

Lindsey, you are privileged to be representing the USA - the nation that has done the most to keep much of the rest of the world free. It’s an incredible honor for you to be the representative of our nation for your sport. That said, you are representing ALL of us, including those who think differently than you and voted differently than you. No one thought you were there representing Trump specifically, or any other politician. Keep politics out of it, and continue to train hard.
