Clemsons got a chance to usurp Alabama as the best team of college footballs brief playoff era. The No. 1 Tigers are headed to a third-straight playoff after slamming No. 7 Miami 38-3 Saturday night in Charlotte in the ACC Championship Game. Assuming No. 5 Alabama doesnt make the playoff Sunday afternoon, the Tigers will join the Tide as the only schools with three playoff appearances in four seasons of the championship format.

Sweet.
Thug U was the media darling of the ‘80s. Nice to see them hammered by a better team.
I am so happy they won!!!!! Go Clemson!

No U swagger tonight. They looked like deer in the headlights from kick off.
Broke my heart. I’m a HUGE Mark Richt fan. At least my Dawgs won today.
Go Clemson. I have a feeling with the Wisconsin loss Alabama could be back in the mix. I could be wrong but Clemson Alabama in the Sugar Bowl is the game they want to see I think.
Neither Ohio State or Wisconsin looked like top 4 teams. The quarterback play stank up the place.
I just hope Clemson beats them too! Im so sick of the bias reporting over Bama.
Clemson is going to repeat.
This bcs crap has to end. I am tired of oligarchs telling me who the best team isnt!!!
The old API system was not perfect, but it made all bowl games important that contained any of the top ten teams. Those bowl outcomes created a subjective champ for an AMATUER system that did two things. First students were back in school for the start of Spring/Winter academics (students remember). Second, no matter who was crowned champion, we all had football to talk about until the following season began. We even talked about the individual bowl games and how each one was crucial to the National Championship polls.
Now only two bowls and the championship game matter, the teams are chosen by a computer, traditional rivalries dont matter, games can’t end in a tie ( with the resulting go for broke decisions), and when the season ends we only discuss the lousy process and fire coaches in hopes of landing the magic bullet that will bring us a ring. No one talks of great games and plays/players, but only whether we can buy our way to the championship game by overpaying coaches, ADs, and providing them with Holden parachutes. Really, there was a time when as a nation we cared about the game itself and the players.
In AMATUER sports it truly is not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game - this is how young boys and girls become the men and women our nation needs as both leaders and examples. The pros can say winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing - After all this is the profession they’ve staked their and their families future on, less than five percent of AMATUER athletes go on to play professionally, the rest hopefully will use their educations to be professionals, men and women of honor and integrity.
Let’s go back to the future in college football before we destroy the game we love.
Man, Saturday was the day of Power Five arse kickings all around. At least Memphis and UCF kept it close.
So am I!
Did you see his cameo in “Facing the Giants”?
That’s when I became a Mark Richt fan.
No but with Mark Richt as the head football coach they are going in the right direction. I’m a Gamecock fan, and although Georgia was fierce rival even Carolina fans respected him when he was their coach. Having said that, being said Gamecock fan I was really hoping the U could pull it off :0)
I am still revved up from yesterday. Do you know if the final will be played again in AZ?
Im tired of oligarches tell me who the best team is
Well it sure as hell aint Clempson. They play in a weak basketball conference and play chumps the entire year. They even managed to lose to a very weak Syracuse team. Great teams dont lose to inferior teams. And no one can say Clempson lost because their starting quarterback was out. Their backup qb is just fine. Syracuse whipped their ass. Alabama loses to their arch rival on the road and the world comes an end. The media darling Clempson loses to a school not much more than a high school and all the sudden Clempson is rated #1. Ridiculous.
Then GA beat their arch-rival the week after. It’s a crazy year. USC beat Stanford. Pac12 is horrible for all the parity, but it makes for great football.
No, I haven’t seen it. My mom graduated from UGA and was the one who got me hooked on the Bulldogs. Albany is my second home but it was mom and Mark Richt who made me a true UGA fan. If I could do it all over again, I’d kill to attend UGA instead of the small college I graduated from.
